Privacy Policy

Information you provide

• Account information: email address and a password, which is stored in hashed form by our authentication provider
• Username, which is public, and any display name you set
• Date of birth, collected to confirm the 18+ requirement and kept private
• Phone number, if you choose to add one, kept private and used only for the contact actions you enable
• City, which may be shown publicly in connection with your listings
• Postal code, if you provide one, kept private and used for location relevance

Content you create

• Listing information such as title, description, price, category and listing period
• Listing photos, which are processed before publication and stripped of embedded location and camera metadata
• Messages you submit through City Mart Local's contact actions
• Reviews and other content you post
• Reports you submit about listings, content or users

Information created by using the service

• Age-verification record: the time your 18+ confirmation was accepted
• Consent records: which document type and version you accepted, when, and how
• Technical and security information such as IP address, browser user agent, and timestamps of security-relevant actions
• Moderation information such as automated review outcomes, flags and enforcement actions
• Payment records for City Mart Local's own fees, described below

How we use information

• Operating City Mart Local and providing your account
• Publishing listings and powering local discovery and search
• Improving location relevance and supporting future nearby functionality
• Facilitating contact between users through the actions each user enables
• Processing City Mart Local's own fees, such as posting fees
• Preventing fraud, spam, bots and abuse
• Content moderation and enforcement of our policies
• Security, including detecting and investigating unauthorized access
• Customer support and responding to your questions
• Meeting legal obligations and maintaining consent and payment records
• Improving the service, including reliability and usability

Location privacy

City Mart Local uses city-level location to organize listings. Your city may be displayed publicly in appropriate contexts, such as on your listings.

Your postal code is private. It is used to improve location relevance and to support future nearby functionality, and it is not displayed on public listings or profiles.

City Mart Local does not ask for or collect precise GPS coordinates, and it does not publish a user's street address or exact home location.

Contact privacy

Your email address and phone number are not printed publicly on listings or profiles. Other users reach you through approved contact actions, and only the methods you have enabled are offered.

When you communicate with another user, you may voluntarily share additional information, such as a phone number, an address or meeting details. Information you choose to share directly with another user is outside City Mart Local's control.

Payments and Stripe

City Mart Local uses a third-party payment processor, currently Stripe, to process City Mart Local's own fees such as the posting fee. Card details are entered with that processor.

City Mart Local does not store full payment card credentials. It retains payment records associated with your account, such as amount, currency, status, timestamps and the processor's transaction identifiers.

City Mart Local does not process payments between buyers and sellers, so it holds no user-to-user payment data.

Cookies and browser storage

City Mart Local uses only the cookies and browser storage needed to operate the service. It does not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies or third-party analytics trackers.

These items are strictly functional: they keep you signed in, remember choices you made and protect the security of the service. They are not used to profile you or to show you ads.

• Sign-in session: keeps you logged in between visits and page loads (authentication cookie and browser storage)
• City preference: remembers the city you selected so you do not have to choose it again
• Form continuity: temporarily keeps in-progress form information, such as an in-progress signup form, in your own browser so it is not lost while you read a linked document
• Consent continuity: temporarily holds your agreement selections in your own browser until account creation completes
• App install prompt: remembers how often you have visited and whether you dismissed the Add to Home Screen suggestion, so it is not shown repeatedly
• Payment processing: when you pay a City Mart Local fee, our payment processor (currently Stripe) may set its own cookies on its payment pages for fraud prevention and security; those are governed by the processor's own policy

What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information
• We do not run third-party advertising networks or ad tracking on the platform
• We do not publicly display your date of birth, email address, phone number or postal code

Service providers

City Mart Local relies on providers for hosting, database and authentication, file storage, email delivery, geographic reference data, automated content moderation and payment processing. These providers process information on City Mart Local's behalf for the purposes described in this policy.

When we share information

• With other users, limited to information that is public by design, such as your username, city and listing content
• With service providers acting on our behalf
• When required by law, legal process or a valid government request
• To investigate fraud, abuse or threats to the safety of users or the platform
• In connection with a business transfer, subject to this policy

Consent recordkeeping

Agreement acceptances are stored as append-only records that identify the document type, the version accepted and the time of acceptance. They are not overwritten when a document changes, so the history of what you agreed to remains intact.

Retention and deletion

Account, profile and listing data is retained while your account is active. Listing records, payment records, moderation records and security records may be retained after a listing ends so the platform can support accounting, safety and legal obligations.

You can request account deletion in My Mart. When you do, City Mart Local removes or de-identifies your profile and listing content, except where retention is required for legal, accounting, security or recordkeeping purposes, including consent and payment records.

Retention periods are not fixed in this policy; information is kept only as long as needed for the purposes described here or as required by law.

Your choices

• Update your profile, city, postal code and contact preferences in My Mart
• Choose which contact methods other users may use to reach you
• Edit or delete your own listings
• Request account deletion from My Mart

Security

City Mart Local uses access controls, row-level database security, private storage for listing photos before approval, and moderation and rate-limiting systems to protect data. No service can guarantee absolute security, so please use a strong, unique password.

Children

City Mart Local is limited to users 18 and older and is not directed to children. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, the account is removed.

Changes to this policy

This policy is versioned with a version number and effective date. When a change is material, City Mart Local will provide notice through the service or by email.
